The Commonplace Theme

The Commonplace theme, built for this blog, is a beautiful, HTML5-standards compliant Ghost theme, designed specifically for content marketing and business blogs. I've made it freely available under an MIT license.

Special features include:

  • A custom post theme for book reviews.
  • A 'feature post' theme, which you can see on this page, and on our Guide to Reading More Books post.
  • Optimised typography for multiple screen sizes.
  • Tested using Google's PageSpeed Insights. Anything theme-related that may affect site speed has been tuned.

Instructions to customise colours and elements are available at Github.

This theme was built with Lato and Calluna, freely available fonts from their respective foundries. Commonplace was designed on top of the Foundation CSS framework, and was built using webpack and sass. Icons are from Font Awesome.

Commonplace was written in vim, and was tested on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, iPad 8 and iPhone 7.

I don't provide support or customisation for this theme, only bugfixes. You may report bugs on Github. However, consulting enquiries are welcomed; contact me here.
